Canada's transcontinental highway and rail routes terminate in Vancouver and the Port of Vancouver is Canada's largest and most diversified port, trading more than $43 billion in goods annually. In recent years, Vancouver has expanded as a centre for software development and biotechnology, while the streets provide a backdrop for the developing film industry. The central Business District has 60% of the Vancouver region's office space and is headquarters for forest products and mining companies as well as branches of national and international banks, accounting and law firms. Vancouver is considered to be a relaxed city with a lively cultural scene, many diversions, and year-round access to outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, boating, and skiing. The city of Vancouver has developed a reputation as a tolerant city that is open to social experimentation and alternative lifestyles as well as being willing to explore alternative drug policies. Vancouver contains the second largest Chinatown in North America with a diverse Chinese-speaking community speaking several different dialects. Other multicultural neighbourhoods in Vancouver include the Punjabi Market, Little Italy, Greektown, Japantown, and a series of Koreatowns. The relatively mild winter temperatures and long growing season in the Vancouver area are ideal for growing trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables and there are many excellent home gardens. Prominent theatre companies in Vancouver include the Arts Club Theatre Company, the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company, and Bard on the Beach as well as numerous other smaller companies. Vancouver holds an annual Fringe Festival and International Film Festival. Vancouver is a major regional centre for the development of classical, folk and popular Canadian music. The Vancouver Art Gallery and the Vancouver Maritime Museum are popular tourist attractions and the Museum of Anthropology at UBC is a leading museum depicting the culture of Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations. The nearby North Shore mountains are home to three ski hills - Cypress Bowl, Grouse Mountain, and Mount Seymour - each within 20 to 30 minutes of downtown Vancouver.
